Photofacial is a term for a skin treatment that uses some kind of light-
based technology, primarily for boosting collagen, treating brown spots
and diminishing broken capillaries. The two main types of photofacials
are LED (Light Emitting Diode) and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light).
1.LED photofacials: These use narrow spectrum light to boost collagen,
which creates plumper, younger looking skin or to kill the bacteria that
cause acne. LED photofacials are painless and have no recovery time,
and can be used for general skin improvement.
2.IPL photofacials: These use intense pulsed light to treat age spots,
broken capillaries and boosting collagen in the skin. IPL photofacials can
also be used for hair removal. They can be uncomfortable, depending on
the pain tolerance of the person and require some downtime after
treatment, usually just a day or two, though it can be more, if the skin
responds with significant redness or blistering.
